Gabriela Ciocarlie
Gabriela F. Ciocarlie, Ph.D., is the Stephen Bloom Chair Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology and serves as Chief Technology Officer for CyManII. In her role at CyManII, she leads the institute’s research and development efforts, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners from academia, national laboratories, and industry. She shapes the institute’s research vision while mentoring Ph.D. and M.S. students. Her research expertise includes anomaly detection, network and application security, and the security of cyber-physical systems.
Prior to joining Stevens, Ciocarlie was an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at San Antonio. She also served as Chief Product Officer at Elpha Secure and as a senior technical manager at SRI International, where she established and led the organization’s New York City cyberanalytics research hub in 2016.
Throughout her career, Ciocarlie has served as principal investigator on numerous high-impact research initiatives, including DARPA’s Transparent Computing program, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory’s Internet of Battlefield Things program, and multiple Department of Homeland Security and commercial projects. Her work has focused on performance degradation detection and causal analysis for mobile broadband networks, anomaly detection for industrial control systems, cyber insurance, and accountable cloud computing.
Ciocarlie earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in computer science from Columbia University and her B.Eng. in computer engineering from Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
