Our Focus
As the workforce enters Industry 4.0, the introduction of new technology and the industrial internet of things (IIoT) has amplified the manufacturing skills gap. Workers need to gain the skills to operate and program the advanced technologies adopted today. To address the needs to upskill the existing manufacturing workforce, CyManII focused on developing training programs that target workers and job roles in production facilities. Roadmapping and early benchmarking indicated a strong preference for manufacturers to augment operational positions with OT cybersecurity skills, presumably due to the high degree of specialization required within a specific manufacturing sector, company, or production facility. Further, the industry expressed a need for training programs that directly addressed the skills gaps pertinent to the employee allowing for efficient upskilling and minimal impact to production.

CyManII Operator Level Training
This course is specifically designed to improve cybersecurity hygiene for small- and medium-sized manufacturers. These modules intentionally focus on Operational Technology (OT) cyber protection. Manufacturers face unique cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and risks due to their unique operations and role in supply chains. This training provides frontline operators with the information necessary to better understand the cyber environment within the manufacturing industry.

System Security Plan Academy
This academy will introduce attendees to a Cybersecurity System Security Plan (SSP). An SSP is a formal document that provides an overview of the security requirements for an information system and describes the security controls that are in place or planned for in meeting those requirements. If you are currently a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor or plan to be, the SSP is a requirement for the DoD as part of the contracting process.

CyManII Implementer Level Training
Manufacturing Cybersecurity Implementers Training Course is a 16-hour hybrid training designed to improve cybersecurity hygiene for small- and medium-sized manufacturers. The modules within this training are geared toward individuals charged with implementing cybersecurity controls within an Operational Technology (OT) environment. The course will examine the many aspects of cybersecurity, from access control to physical security and much more.

CyManII Leader Level Training
Designed to improve cybersecurity hygiene for small- and medium-sized manufacturers, these modules intentionally focus on cybersecurity best practices for operational technology (OT) systems and assets. With OT cyber-attacks on the rise, it is crucial to implement OT cybersecurity that is understood by all employees of the organization. This training provides leadership and management with the information necessary to better understand the IT/OT environment within the manufacturing industry.
PARTNER OFFERINGS

Tooling U-SME
SME is a nonprofit association of professionals, educators, and students committed to promoting and supporting the manufacturing industry. SME helps manufacturers innovate, grow, and prosper by promoting manufacturing technology, developing a skilled workforce, and connecting the manufacturing industry.

Cisco Networking Academy
The Cybersecurity pathway training provided by the Cisco Networking Academy prepares individuals for entry-level cybersecurity positions. In this training, individuals will learn vital skills like threat intelligence, network security, and risk management to protect organizations from cyber attacks.

Cyber Readiness Institute
The mission of the Cyber Readiness Institute is to empower small- and medium-sized enterprises with free tools and resources to help them become more secure and resilient. CyManII has partnered with this institute to provide free cyber hygiene training to small to medium organizations nationwide.

Boise State University – Cyber Informed Engineering
In partnership with Boise State University, CyManII has created a cyber-informed engineering (CIE) basic awareness course around the identification and mitigation of the inherent risks of digital technology by including cybersecurity as a core element of engineering risk management.

UTSA SBDC Cybersecurity Academy
CyManII has partnered with the UT San Antonio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to develop and deliver free training on OT systems security to small and medium businesses across the country. The SBDC offers training from OT for Manufacturing 101 to the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Academy training. Classes are delivered live (in-person and webinar) and on-demand.

By 2028, there will be 2 million unfilled positions in manufacturing—a deficit created by what is being called the “Manufacturing Skills Gap.”

CYMANII SEALED
To reach the nation’s workforce at scale, we needed to leverage and amplify existing programs that already addressed needs around cybersecurity training in manufacturing and that focus on addressing the IT/OT gap. Many such programs exist but are dispersed among providers, industry organizations, and companies. To effectively assess these programs for alignment with CyManII’s mission, we evaluated them against set criteria, including alignment with CyManII’s objectives, their technical approach to OT cybersecurity, recognized learning modalities, and delivery approaches. Those programs that showed alignment were given a “CyManII Seal” and are now recommended among the growing CyManII training portfolio.
